Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior official stated the attack made him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
